In the bid to control and monitor goods imported into Nigeria and to encourage local/small scale industry in the country, the Federal Government of Nigeria has published a list of items that are prohibited.
The Revised Import Prohibition List (Trade) can be found in the SCHEDULE 3 of the Nigeria Customs Service Common External Tariff (C.E.T).
With C.E.T in place, the Government can make revisions with the use of circulars to either remove or add items considered necessary for trade and development of the country.
When items are prohibited, any attempt to import such products will lead to immediate seizure and confiscation by the Nigeria Customs Service.
